Yup! The Head Coach. This is the
person who makes the big calls throughout the season. He
is making sure that everyone is doing
their jobs and
that everything is in order. As you get to bigger teams, there
are team managers and other managers involved, but
for this basic example, The Team Owner
is the one
calling the big shots.
Sometimes called the “money man” but not always, this is
the person
signing on drivers and talking with the
series and tracks to setup testing
and looking for ways
to improve the team as a whole. Owners come
from
different backgrounds. Some are successful engineers who
were able to
start their own team, while others are
people who have been successful
in other areas and have
chosen to start a race team.
The Team Owner is looking at financial situations to make sure that the mechanics and engineers have what
they need to make the racecars go fast. The difficulty
of this position is finding a balance between making a
profit and also having the racecars go quick, as racing
is very expensive.
This is also the person who puts the pressure on
the other team members to perform to their
maximum
capabilities. Though sometimes far-
fetched and other
times motivating, it is always
important to have a very
good team owner;
one who motivates and keeps things
going.
