SPARTA,
Ky., August 11 - Andrew Prendeville finished 39
laps in Saturday night's Indy Pro Series race at
Kentucky Speedway for the Racing Laps for Best
Friends program before the popular driver of the
Best Friends Animal Society No. 5 was involved
in a multi-car accident in Turn 1 of the
1.5-mile tri-oval.
Prendeville, of Morristown, N.J., was not hurt
in the accident and his car wasn't badly
damaged.
Fans that made donations to the Best Friends
Animal Society for the Kentucky Speedway race
through the racinglapsforbestfriends.com Website
(this website) or at the track will be
multiplying their donation figure by 39.
Donations in any amount beginning at 25 cents
per lap are accepted and appreciated for the
program, which benefits the largest no-kill
animal shelter in the United States.
Prendeville started seventh on Saturday night in
the 20-car field. He slipped to eighth on lap
one when Ryan Justice passed him. Leilani Munter,
who had qualified fifth but dropped to ninth
initially, passed him on lap six to push him to
ninth. He stayed in that spot until lap 18, when
he got eighth back after Munter fell back two
spots.
Prendeville passed Sean Guthrie for seventh on
lap 29, but then his position changed repeatedly
as he diced with Jaime Camara, Guthrie and
Munter. He was in ninth place on lap 40 when the
four-car crash occurred. Bobby Wilson, Justice
and Munter were involved in addition to
Prendeville.
"Chris Festa was trying to go high, and when he
pulled up to Justice they touched and he cut
Justice's tire down," Prendeville said. "This
was way before Turn 1 that that happened.
Justice immediately slowed up and tried to bring
it down to the bottom of the track. Leilani
clipped his left rear trying to avoid him, and
Justice spun sideways.
"I was about the third car behind Justice at
that point," Prendeville continued. "I tried to
aim high, as did Sean Guthrie. I guess I reacted
a little sooner than he did. I got loose trying
to avoid Guthrie, and I went into a long, lazy
spin in Turn 1. I didn't touch a single car and
I almost kept it off the wall, but at the last
second I hit the wall. It wasn't a heavy hit at
all; it was a really soft hit. There's not much
damage to the car at all. We'll fix it and go on
to Sonoma.
"We did finish 39 laps for the Racing Laps for
Best Friends program," he added.
The race will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 5:30 p.m.
Eastern time on Thursday, Aug. 16.
The next Indy Pro Series race is a doubleheader
at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. Aug.
25-26. The distance for each race will be 30
laps.

payable to "Racing Laps for Best Friends" to:

Donations to the Racing Laps for Best Friends
program may be made using MasterCard, Visa,
American Express or Discover credit cards.
Fans donate a set amount of money for each lap
that Prendeville completes in each race. At $1
per lap for the 18-lap races such as the two
Indy Pro Series races at IMS this weekend, the
donation would be $18 per race or $36. If the
car would only complete 10 laps in one race and
five laps in the other race, then the donation
would be $15.
