Prendeville Finishes Seventh Saturday In First Half of Infineon Indy Pro Series
Doubleheader With Best Friends Animal Society No. 5

SONOMA, Calif., Aug. 25 - Fans who pledged $1 a
lap via the racinglapsforbestfriends.com Website
(this website) or via the Best Friends Animal
Society Donation Center in the infield at
Infineon Raceway this weekend donated $30 to the
largest no-kill animal shelter in the United
States on Saturday. That's because Andrew
Prendeville completed all 30 laps and finished
seventh in the Indy Pro Series race at Infineon
Saturday with his Best Friends Animal Society
No. 5.
Prendeville will start second in a similar
30-lap race at Infineon tomorrow morning at
10:20 a.m. local time. Donations for Best
Friends based on that race are currently being
taken on the Web site and at the Best Friends
tent in the infield. Fans on-site can reach it
by walking through the tunnel at the end of the
main grandstand towards the vendor area. It's
next to the U.S. Army display.
Prendeville started 13th in Saturday's race on
the
2.26-mile, 12-turn road course. He passed two
drivers on the first lap to advance to 11th, and
he
was in the top 10 by lap five.
He remained in tenth, running between Jonathan
Klein
and Ryan Justice, until lap 17. At that point he
moved
up to eighth when there was contact between
Jaime
Camara and Hideki Mutoh in Turn 11 which left
Mutoh
stranded and brought out the second and final
full-
course caution.
Right before the restart on lap 20 the
fifth-place car driven by
Phil Giebler had a problem and stalled, which
moved Prendeville
up to seventh two-thirds of the way through the
event. He stayed
there, running between Logan Gomez and Justice,
the rest of
the way.
"The car was fine. We moved by a couple people
at the start.
Most of the rest was attrition," Prendeville
said afterwards.
"But we started 13th and moved up six spots, and
finished all
the laps for the Racing Laps for Best Friends
program."
"I was never really in a position to strike and
make a
move today," he added. "I benefited from other
people's mistakes."
"Now I get to start second tomorrow,"
Prendeville noted.
"I'll just try to do the best I can. It's a fun
track; it's just
hard to pass here."
Highlights from both of this weekend's races
will be
shown on ESPN2 at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time on
Friday,
Aug. 31. Live timing and scoring is offered at

Donations to the Racing Laps for Best Friends
program may be made using MasterCard, Visa,
American Express or Discover credit cards.
Fans donate a set amount of money for each lap
that Prendeville completes in each race. At $1
per lap for the 18-lap races such as the two
Indy Pro Series races at IMS this weekend, the
donation would be $18 per race or $36. If the
car would only complete 10 laps in one race and
five laps in the other race, then the donation
would be $15.
